Investment & portfolio governance

Decide what to fund, what to defer and what to stop, and keep technology spending tied to the strategy it is meant to serve.

A portfolio is a set of choices

Every organisation has more good ideas than it can fund. The discipline lies in choosing between them openly, on the same criteria, and in revisiting the choice when the evidence changes. Without that, budgets follow whoever argues loudest.

Evidence from the field

At Amazon Web Services I led a US$100M Industrial Cloud investment to a 2.5x return on invested capital, securing US$250M in commitments from 21 partners and scaling 13 use cases. For an automotive manufacturer, prioritising business cases for scale, profitability and impact lifted the share of high-value technology initiatives by around 60%. Streamlined intake, qualification and due diligence has improved portfolio throughput by roughly 15%.

Simplifying what you already own

Governance also means pruning. I have reduced technology portfolio complexity through vendor selection and consolidation, including an IT consolidation programme for a German manufacturer that delivered around €1.5M in annual savings.

What you can expect

A single view of initiatives, their cost and what they are expected to return
Intake, qualification and due-diligence processes that filter early
Business cases built for scale, profitability and impact
Technology and vendor selection, sourcing and stewardship
Reporting that tells the board whether the money is working

Open to advisory mandates and keynote invitations

Facing a decision on AI or transformation that has to be right?

Tell me what is at stake, who has to be convinced and by when. Whether you need an advisor in the room or a voice on your stage, that is enough to start.
